I should have blogged this when I made it over a month ago because now I can't think of anything to say about it...

The pattern is the Simplicity Pattern 8228 Misses' Soft Cup Bras and Panties, and I used lace from cotton reel studio. It's a lovely pattern, but I trying to make a non-halter neck version because I find this style is always visible through neck openings on tops. Thus came the crossed back hack which didn't even solve this problem!Dinushihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12003166020953096187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1554747898410498007.post-47890702890855435992017-02-04T15:04:00.000-08:002017-03-05T03:08:20.751-08:00Hand Dyed Wool (Ombre Style)

This was my first attempt dyeing wool, though it probably would have been easier to start with a smaller project, I'm currently dyeing 12 balls of wool for a jumper I'm making.

My wool was an un-dyed, animal fibre mix. For my dye, I used Dylon's 'Burlesque Red', though clearly it's more of a purple colour..,
Dylon (in the extremely likely case you're reading this) you should really show all the shades of your dyes so people know what it looks like diluted! Also that tiny circle of colour on your packaging barely shows the colour off...

Anyway, I attempted to dip dye by dividing the dye into two bowl, one with a strong concentration and the other with a weaker one. It turned out quite well and definitely achieved the ombre affect, however the colour turned out a bit light- perhaps I should have been more precise with my measurements or used a larger dye quantity.
I kept the wool in the dye solutions for just over an hour, but it still didn't come out that strong- I think it's because I dyed outside where it was about 7 degrees. Heat is apparently an important part of the wool dyeing process (according to the small amount of research/googling I did). Though Dylon's only instructions on heat is to soak your solution in warm water, still, I decided to compensate for the cold weather by steaming the dye for a few minutes afterwards by placing it in in a glass bowl on top, heated on the hob, on top a saucepan. In hindsight, I probably should have steamed it from the start and kept the woold/dye warm throughout- oh well! I think I prefer the pastel colours to a bright ones so maybe it'll turn out okay. Watch this space for the jumper...Dinushihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12003166020953096187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1554747898410498007.post-19874356263386824442017-02-04T14:40:00.001-08:002017-02-04T14:40:56.337-08:00Stowe Bag Tote

I was pretty excited when Nadja from Schnittchen got in touch about doing a pattern review last year, especially since I had just finished making the Coatigan Silvia! I chose to make the Schnittmuster Yogaset, but as I was travelling around at the time I lost track of the project and I didn't start sewing this until recently.

The Leggings
I used grey jersey for the leggings and cut size 34 for all the pieces, as I'm normally a XS/S. The leggings had a tight, snug fit, though I cut off an inch or two from the hem to make them ankle height.
The leggings are only made from 3 pieces and were a very quick and easy make- which was a relief because when I try to make trousers something always go wrong...
I found attaching the waistband a bit tricky, which involves sewing together 3 layers of fabric, as the jersey kept curling at the edges so I kept skipping layers! I'd recommend basting or serging the two layers of the waistband together before attaching it.
I also serged all my finished seams instead of zig-zaging them like the instructions suggest- just to make the seams more durable in case I do actually use them for yoga/exercise and not just lazing around the house.

The Sweatshirt
The sweatshirt has raglan sleeves and a split side hem. I used something similar to a sweatshirt fabric, I'm not sure of it's exact name, and I cut a size 34 which ended up fitting perfectly. This pattern uses 4 pieces, and like the leggings, is pretty simple to make. The instructions are very minimal and include no pictures, and sometimes the wording can be a bit confusing. However as the pattern doesn't have any complicated steps, it's still easy to follow.

This pattern set also includes a tank top which I am yet to make.

I would definitely recommend this pattern and I'd say it is suitable for advanced beginners, or any ability really, as long as you have ballpoint needles or an overlocker to work with stretchy fabric.
Plus, it includes 3 patterns that can be used for more than just active wear (I'm planning to make like 5 pairs of black leggings for casual use!). All together, I would say the leggings and sweatshirt took a few hours each to sew, so it could easily be made in a day. I've worn my yogaset around the house all weekend (I'm ill, don't judge) and I can confirm it's as comfy as it looks, plus the raglan sleeves makes arm/shoulder movement feel less restricted.

These bralettes were made from old t-shirts using Cloth Habit's Watson Bra. I came up with the idea of using old t-shirts after one of my favourites was ruined when a mysterious, large and irremovable stain appeared after staying in a hostel in Thailand (gross). I couldn't bin the white, rainbow-speckled jersey so decided to cut it up and sew it into something else. There's not a lot of options for such a small amount of fabric, and jersey works really well with the Watson Bra pattern. Then, after rummaging through clothes my sister was getting rid off, I found 3 more t-shirts to turn into matching bralette and underwear sets (the last one is yet to be made).
T-shirt underwear sets are economical and green! The only cost was lingerie elastic which are less than a £ per meter (on eBay at least)*, which is pretty good as jersey bralettes in cheap shops like Forever 21 are £10-£15.
So save your money and cut up your old clothes and turn them into new ones! I think this was actually my last year's New Year resolution and I've not really stuck to it, so this year I'm trying again and also trying to buy less or only buying things I really want/need. Good luck to me.

*Actually one bra uses a hook and eye, but these can be substituted by cutting the bra band on the fold, and instead of cutting out the curved inner edge cut a straight line so the bra band is rectangular. Also I omitted bra rings and sliders. <span style="color: #444444; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">This is the Stowe Bag by Grainline Studio and Fringe & Co, made in the small size. I made the larger size as a Christmas present for my sister, and decided to make some changes this time round. I omitted the bias binding and just overlocked the edges in the same colour as the fabric. I think it worked pretty well, and made the whole project a lot easier and smoother (I hate making/ adding bias binding, especially on curved edges). I also changed the pockets to make them simpler, and halved the size of one pocket so I could include one of those elastic pocket thingys for scissors and needle- it's as easy as it looks to sew, just line up the elastic where you want it and sew the ends on, then sew pairs of vertical lines (width approx 5mm). I also added some scrap lace to the front of the bag (if you sew on anything to the outer bag sew these on before you add the pockets!). Most of the bag was made from fabric scraps, including the pockets and elastic, and the main fabric I used was calico bought from the rag market it Birmingham. It was the perfect weight, for my first attempt I used canvas which was too heavy and almost too thick for my machine and therefore very difficult to sew. Hmmm, I think that's all I have to say about this bag. Happy New Year y'all.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I love this dress, this may be the best thing I've sewn as barely anything went wrong, except the waist line is a little wonky. It's Sinbad and Sailor's Hepworth dress which sadly is no longer available to buy. I made two alterations to the pattern- I shortened the hem and added sleeves (the sleeves were taken from SOI's Anderson blouse) with elasticated cuffs.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It's taken me a while but I've finally updated my sewing blog for the last 6 months. Now that I'm back in the UK that hopefully means I'll be using this more often. I've also signed up for Bluebird fabric's #sewyourstyle and am doing a review for a Schnittchen's pattern which I was supposed to be do back in April, but the pattern arrive while I was in Sri Lanka. Aaand I'll be doing pattern testing for her summer collection but won't be able to post about that until it's released!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I made this Ogden Cami by True Bias months ago but was too lazy to blog it. It's made from silk I bought in Vietnam on a trip to a silk factory, where I got to see how silk was made and even eat a few silk worms... they tasted pretty good.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This turned out pretty well, expect for a twisted strap which really annoyed me at first but I've accepted it as an endearing quirk. Oh and sewing silk is as tricky as it seems, but I found using double-sided masking tape instead of pins- it helped the fabric to stop moving as much and meant it didn't get damaged with pin holes. I didn't use a special sewer foot or anything, but I'd recommend<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> looking up a few silk sewing tutorials for any first time silk sewers.Dinushihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12003166020953096187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1554747898410498007.post-75964211569516089232016-06-09T03:06:00.000-07:002016-12-12T03:25:13.663-08:00Evelyn Romper

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It feels like I've been neglecting my blog, but I've actually been it Sri Lanka since April so sewing, let alone blogging my projects, has not been as easy as it used to.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">However, recently I ambitiously volunteered to pattern test for Ohhh Lulu (I couldn't resist, it's Ohhh Lulu!) despite my machine and all my sewing stuff being back in the UK. Fortunately the Evelyn Romper didn't require any of the typical bra notions like everything else in the new collection so the materials were a bit easier to source.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">After taking tuk tuks to fabric shops, hunting down haberdasheries tucked away on busy Colombo streets, and pedalling away on my aunt's manual sewing machine in 30 degree heat for 2 days, I managed to finish my Evelyn Romper!

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It may not be as fancy as the other beautiful silk and crepe pattern tests popping up on Instagram but I'm happy it reflects my location of Sri Lanka, plus it's perfect for the beach!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As it was a pattern test I can't do much of a review as it may be updated, but the version I used was surprisingly easy to make and I would definitely recommend it. The difficulty will probably be down to the fabric you use as light, drapey fabrics move around more, also attaching the waistband was a bit tricky. As this is a lingerie pattern you might want to add an inch or two to the hem if you're doing an outdoor version, mine's just for the beach but if it wasn't for the tasselled trim I think my bikini pants would possibly be exposed.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Lastly, I only made 2 small changes to the original test pattern. I had limited fabric options and a short time frame so bought bias binding instead of making it, and I didn't attach the straps as the back of the playsuit resulting it a tie up halter neck!

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is the long-line version of the watson bra. I used a vintage stretch lace and bra notion from the same sellers I mentioned in my sierra bra post. It went similarly to my first watson bra but this time round I learnt a new bra sewing tip- don't serge! At least if you're using stretch fabric that doesn't fray, as serging adds unnecessary bulk plus you don't have to worry about matching thread colours.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I also learnt what a pain dyeing is, as I tried to dye all the elastics and notions a dark grey. As you can see they turned light purple. I think this is because I didn't check what the elastic were made from, apparently they dye best if they have nylon in them, and natural fabrics are easiest to dye and synthetics are much harder. My advise to anyone who wants to dye is to research the fabric and dye you're using, I'm impatient and did neither. Though I did spend a bit of time googling dyeing, most of which stressed the importance of sticking to the instructions of the dye's box. Again, I didn't do this, but only because after trying the instructions the dye didn't seem strong enough. So I re-dyed my elastics ignoring the instructions, both times I found most of the dye ran after I washed them (I used dylon's pewter grey). After spending like two seconds googling dyeing elastics again I found this two articles of specially dyeing bra notions, I only wished I had followed! Ah well next time. Here they are for anyone's whose interested:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Like always, I used the PDF version of the pattern and it didn't take too long to stick together. Though I ended up having to re-print everything because my first attempt turned out way too small. If you're making these trousers with a non-stretch fabric, as I did, you should go at least one size up (I went up 2). The only other changes I made was that instead of using the ankle cuffs I just made the legs a few inches longer and hemmed the edges before zig-zag stitching on elastic.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The best part of this was the waist band as it used a technique I hadn't seen before, where you sew on the elastic and then roll the fabric over it, instead of making a casing. Also, the faux fly made it a bit different, though I don't really see the appeal in it and the detail got lost in my baggy version anyway. I also omitted the cord from the waist band.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I would recommend this pattern as it's pretty versatile, oh and they also have a shorts version that would be perfect for PJs. I also have the worst luck with making trousers so I'm just happy these came out wearable!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">These patterns are both FREE! The Sierra Bra is from from Madalynne and the Ladyshorts are from Cloth Habit. Both are great patterns and come with sew-alongs. The Ladyshorts are pretty easy, the Sierra Bra is a bit more complex, but the comments on her sew-alongs are also really helpful because they're like a mini FAQ section.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used stretch lace from theplaceforlace and bra notions from stitchbubble who have their own shops on eBay. The shops are perfect for lingerie-makers and the sellers were both really nice and quick on communication and postage.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For the lining of the sierra bra I used a black stretch mesh, which is much easier to find and probably cheaper that using powernet. Stretchiness is the most important requirement when choosing fabric for this as the sierra bra comes out quite small (at least mine did) and Madalynne recommends going down a size if you're in between sizes, because if it's too loose you lose all the support.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Also after taking the photos I added elastic to the waist and leg openings of my ladyshorts to give it more support, I'd recommend widening the crotch part for anyone planning to do this too. Dinushihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12003166020953096187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1554747898410498007.post-63566957811191908492016-02-19T03:18:00.003-08:002016-03-15T11:23:06.021-07:00Watson Bra and Bikini Pant

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I feel like I've earned a sewing merit badge after finishing my first bra! I made Cloth Habit's Watson Bra, which is an flattering 70s design. I wanted to make the long-line version, but didn't have enough lining :(. My bra findings and materials all came from a bra kit from Sewing Chest, but I bought my main fabric, the black mesh fabric, from my local fabric shop. I cannot recommend mesh fabric enough, especially if you're sewing your first bra- it's cheap, it's flattering, it's so easy to cut! The only downside is that it's like impossible to unpick stitching on it, I messed up the stitching on one of the bra cups and just had to give up cut another one.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Loads of reviews for the Watson bra say it's best for a first bra, which is why I went for it. I think it's because it uses less components than most bras, for example there's no underwire, and the stretch makes it more forgiving if the size is a bit small. I wouldn't say it was easy, bra-making is tricky but it's totally doable. Cloth Habit's sew-along is really helpful and has clear photos and videos. The hardest part of bra making is getting your head around the bra making techniques, which you don't really see in any other aspect of clothes making. Having done them now, I think they would be pretty easy to repeat. For instance, it took me so long to understand how to put a bra strap together and it turned out to be one of the easiest things. I have tiny mistakes all over this bra but they're not too noticeable and not much went wrong. It takes up so little fabric that it's not a pain to start again if things go really wrong. Though one annoying part of bra making is sourcing all the different bits and bobs. Like one shop might sell the right trim elastic but you'll have to go elsewhere for the strap elastic and then find a fabric shop that does powernet, and all of these have to be the right colour... Luckily, there are shops like Sewing Chest that specifically sell lingerie/bra-making bits, also Blackbird Fabrics and Tailor Made Shop have some beautiful stuff but P&P for the UK is like £10. Oh and eBay has a pretty good selection of bra findings. Most of these sites sell bra-kits which includes everything you'll need, making it a lot easier but they're often more expensive.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So yeah, to conclude, if any sewer (and I know a few) are waiting to jump on the bra-making wagon, this is a good start. Bra-making is not as intimidating as it seems (resisting a pun about intimidating intimates, mainly because I can't think of a good one). I think next I'll do a Craftsy class on bra-making, because there's so much to learn about it, especially in regards to getting the right fit. That is all, byeeee.

They have PDF and paper patterns, I got the PDF version. PDF patterns are normally a pain to fit together as they never align properly, but this pattern was as close to perfect as it gets so it was actually quite fun to assemble. The instructions were a bit <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">minimalist, each step being only a few lines with no diagrams or pictures. There's a m<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">ention of a sewalong on Schnittchen's blog but I couldn't find one, I'm assuming it's just not up yet because Coatigan Silvia is a new pattern. Generally, this is a simple pattern and quite easy to sew but because the instructions aren't very detailed it's probably easier to follow if you've made a coat or jacket before. I struggled with some of the steps because I need pictures to understand even the most basic of instructions... Luckily I found Grainline's tutorial on bagging lining otherwise adding the lining would've been a lot harder.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used a medium-weight, wool fabric and some sort of silk mix for the lining, and cut the smallest size. It fit well but the sleeves were a bit tight. This isn't the most structured coat, and it's purposely quite baggy and...cushy. The lapels kept sticking out so I attempted to top-stitch the entire edge of the coat, which I wouldn't recommend. It just doesn't suit the style of the coat, it's like trying to pin down something airy. I unpicked the top-stitch, which took ages but it actually helped fold everything down. But next time I would just have more patience and spend more time pressing everything down. I also closed up the pockets with a few slip stitches as when they opened they messed up the coat's silhouette.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To be honest my opinion of my finished coatigan keeps changing. I think I picked the wrong fabric, I think a lighter colour would have looked better and maybe a lighter-weight wool would've helped the coat keep it's shape. Also, my lapels look uneven, I wish I restitched it because it's such a key part of the coat. Oh well, overall it's not so bad and I'm happier with it now I've removed the top-stitching. I will probably still wear it, but it won't replace my favourite waver jacket. I would recommend this pattern as my problems with it were more with the fabric I chose, and I don't think the style ended up suiting me! The only negative I have is the lack of pictures and details in the instructions, but that would be remedied by a sewalong, which hopefully will be on Schnittchen's (or uploaded by another sewer) blog soon.

I think this was the first pattern I bought, and it was a good choice by my 22-year-old-self (was that a correct use of hyphens?). I'm sure I raved about this pattern enough in my first post, and it's a perfect, classic shirt pattern and the sew-a-long on grainline's blog makes the instructions a lot easier to follow.

Oh and a head's up to anyone else who's broken there button foot, or doesn't have one on their sewing machine, I figured out a way to get around it using a normal sewing foot! Reduce your stitch size to 0 and choose the zig zag stitch (I used to smallest width on my settings) and simply sew the rectangle where you want you button hole. I chalked out a 'H' shape where my buttons should go- the horizontal bars show me when to stop sewing as it's hard to see this over your sewing foot. I used vertical bar to mark the gap in my button hole. I'd definitely recommend trying out making a button hole a few times on scrap fabric before doing it on your shirt!

This was my first bit of sewing for 2016, from New Year's day. After trying to clear some old clothes out, I decided for my sewing resolution to remake old clothes instead of just buying more clothes and more fabric (though I'm still going to keep buying fabric of course).

This top was an easy place to start because it had soo much fabric, as the photo shows it was pretty long and baggy- which is one of the reasons I never wore it. I cut off several inches from the bottom of the top and used this to make the sleeves. I then unpicked the side seams and added the sleeves before re-stitching the sides and hemming everything.

I now love this top, it's so much more flattering- yay for remaking! It's like recycling so I'm basically saving the world too...

This is view B of the Roscoe Dress by True Bias. I have mixed feelings about this dress. I think I cut the wrong size and chose the wrong fabric. It's a pretty billowy dress so next time I'd go for a smaller size, I'd also make the sleeves longer as they're somewhere in between 3/4 length and full length and lastly I'd make the bodice section longer instead of adding the gathered skirt. This may be because of the fabric I used, but I found the skirt bunched unevenly, and even after re-doing it a few times the hem just ended up looking bit messy.

Overall it's an easy pattern, though the neckline and sleeve cuffs are a bit fiddley. I found the PDF pattern didn't match up very well when I tried to stick it together, so the paper pattern would be a better choice for anyone wanting to buy this. But still, it's a cool pattern and company, and I'd make it again just so I can get right!

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is the Waver Jacket by Papercut Patterns (short version). Most reviews of this pattern recommend it for a first coat to sew, I'd agree as I didn't have any problems sewing this despite never making a coat before. It's also a pretty versatile pattern fabric-wise, I used quite a heavy-weight fabric for the outer shell as well as a thick, fleecey material for the lining and it ended up working quite well. Though I did struggle with the hem, and after re-stitching it like five times I ended up hand stitching it from the outside.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I didn't make any alterations to this pattern except I didn't include buttons (and the waist casing) because I'm lazy and the coat actually suits having none, but I might add some toggles later. Oh, and for the lining I used two separate fabrics for the sleeves and the bodice, as having a thick lining for the sleeves would probably restrict their movement. As the fleece fabric was pretty stretchy (and felt quite malleable after I tea-dyed it) I sewed it onto some lining fabric before making the inner shell, so it wouldn't stretch out.

I'm proud to say I'm getting to that stage of dressmaking where it doesn't look like a complete mess up close and I feel comfortable wearing it in public (and it only took me like 3 years). I think it's mainly down to getting a overlocker, which magically finishes seams so neatly and perfectly.

Also, I'm wondering if I should post close up photos of seams and the messy bits, which are all part of making your own clothes.

This was made using the Fall version of the Rise and Fall Turtleneck by Papercut Patterns.

I downloaded the PDF version and was pleasantly surprised at how well the pieces fit together, as usually PDF patterns come out a bit disjointed.

This was also my first time using knit fabrics, I bought my fabric was Neotrim through Amazon (though apparently they do combined shipping if you order from their eBay). The knit turned out not to be as tricky to sew as I thought, probably because I used an overlocker for the seams. The hardest part of this sewing project was actually the hem, which was probably my fault for not trimming and ironing it first.

I didn't make any alterations to the pattern, except I cut off like an inch of the turleneck and add a couple inches to the sleeves which otherwise wouldn't have reached my wrists.

I would definitely recommend this pattern to any fellow jumper/turtleneck lover or anyone looking for a first knit fabric project.

These were made using the Amerson pattern which amazingly is free! It's surprisingly easy to make, but the instructions are very simplified and they require a bit of common sense (of which I'm lacking) and relies on prior sewing knowledge/ familiarity with sewing patterns. For instance, the front and back piece have a large number 2 on it, I didn't realise until I cut the fabric that this meant cut 2 pieces!

I've made a few alterations from the original, the first pair pretty much follows the pattern exactly except I used an overlocker for the rolled hem instead of a sewing machine. For the second pair I took about 2/3 of an inch off the waist and gave the leg opening a slightly higher cut.
